MODE 6 RACE PULLEY KITS (formerly muffin top pulley kits) come in many tooth options and all you need to get cooking! The kits includes pulley's, spacer's, belts, and bearings! These pulleys have been tested boosted stealth and boosted mini-x.
Are they tuff? Our MODE 6 KITS are printed in NylonG! This is the same material that is used to house the boosted battery you can read about that here. So yes, these are some of the hardest KITS you will ever get your hands on.
Do you lose range? Yes you can lose range but this depends on your tooth choice, ride style, and commute. If you hammer throttle non stop you will see a loss in range from most kits. Now if you boost up to your new top speed and coast down repeatedly you can get more range from the board. These muffins may also allow a faster regeneration due to the pulley spinning the motor gear faster at high or lower speeds. In short, your braking may give more back.
Do the brakes still work? Yes they still work, but they may react slower due to the reduce torque. This depends on the tooth size. The lower you go the less brakes you will have.
Why is the torque reduced and by how much? To get a higher top speed we had to pull from some where. With the 45T torque is sacrificed to allow the 4-5mph+. The take off on these 45T pulleys doesn't feel like eco mode if thats what you're asking.
Can I still climb hills? Yes, I live and ride these on Missouri back roads and parks. We don't have mountains but we have some fairly large hills. These 45T pulleys have not failed me when climbing up them.
What kinda wheels do I need? Stock boosted Kegel core wheels, loaded Kegel core wheels or any wheel with a Kegel style core will work. The muffin top's have only been speed tested with loaded Caguama's. Larger wheels may produce a higher top speed but will result in even less torque. Smaller wheels may result in lower top speed and more torque. We also have a ABE11 core option but has only been tested to fit with genuine ABEC11 wheels.
Remove your stock pulleys.
Press your muffin top pulley into your wheels.
Remove stock belts and replace larger washer if needed.
Loosen motor bolts and slide motor back as far as possible.
Place the 201-3m belts provided with the kit onto your pulley.
Now slide your wheel and belt into place.
Retighten your motor as needed for the new belt size.
